Mike McKay Reacts to President Trump's Comments on Judge Robart (CNN)
Mike McKay, a McKay Chadwell member and former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington, was interviewed by CNN regarding President Trump’s recent comments on social media about Judge James Robart’s order restraining enforcement of Trump’s executive order affecting immigration.
McKay co-chaired the selection committee that recommended Judge Robart’s nomination for federal judge in 2003. McKay stated that Judge Robart:
“…did his duty last Friday and the kind of attack that the President rendered on him was really inappropriate and disrespectful of the important role that judges play in our society.”
“He’s [Judge Robart] playing his role that he’s supposed to play and let his decisions speak for themselves. I think the President needs to get back into line to recognize his appropriate role.”
